Biography Henri Roman

After graduating from the Conservatoire d’Angoulême, Henri Roman was admitted to the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in the class of Amaury Wallez, where he was awarded first prize in 2002 and the Certificat d’Aptitude in 2004.

He then worked regularly in various chamber music groups, including the Confluences quintet, with which he won third prize at the Henri Tomasi international competition in 2004, the Cénoman ensemble, the wind octet at the chaise dieu festival, and the propos wind trio, with which he gave concerts in India, Pakistan, Japan, South America and Europe.

He also performs as a soloist with various orchestral groups (Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Orchestre Paul Kuentz, Orchestre des équipages de la flotte de Brest, Taipei University Orchestra, Antonio Vivaldi Ensemble, Cénomans Ensemble, etc.), with whom he likes to introduce audiences to the bassoon’s often little-known repertoire.

In February 2009 he was awarded 2nd prize in the international competition for the interpretation of French music dedicated to the bassoon in Paris Ville d’Avray.

As a teacher he taught bassoon and chamber music at the conservatoire of Le Mans from 2006 to 2018 and then at the conservatoire a rayonnement régional de saint Maur de Fossés until 2021. He has also published several works on bassoon pedagogy.

Henri Roman was a member of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris from 2007 to 2022 as second bassoon co-soloist.

Since September 2021, with a view to offering musical activities to as many people as possible, he has been in charge of musical activities for the national education system and as part of the urban policy for the Le Mans conservatoire.

Guillaume Fournier, piano

Guillaume Fournier was born in 1980 and won first prize at the Evian International Piano Competition, first prize at the Mayenne International Piano Competition and first prize at the Brest Competition.

Piano teacher at Le Mans Conservatoire since 2006, this former engineer is passionate about the meeting of the arts, and is the author and creator of several multimedia shows performed in France and abroad.

Specialist in Alexander Scriabin, he has given numerous recitals, concertos and lectures devoted to this composer, and has been invited on several occasions to take part in the « International Conferences »: « Way to Scriabin » at the composer’s House Museum in Moscow. His work has culminated in the creation of a Seul en Scène musical « Scriabin, Poète du Feu et de l’Extase », which won 1st Prize at the Evian International Competition, presided over by François-René Duchâble. Finally, the Scriabin Museum in Moscow entrusted him with the honour of chairing the French ‘Alexandre Scriabine’ association.

A regular at long-night performances, he is the creator and artistic director of the « Pianoctambule, 24H piano(s) » festival in Le Mans, the 8th edition of which will take place in November 2024.
