Fascinated by the universe of timbres, the multiplicity of sonorities and the immense repertoire, the Bergen Quartet was formed in 2015, and in the practice of this formation discovered the universe of all the possible. They shape their sixteen strings to make their own what becomes their own instrument, and put at the heart of their project the desire to rise to four.

They have studied with many renowned teachers and chamber musicians, including Luc Marie Aguerra (Ysaye quartet), Yovan Markovitch (Danel quartet), Sergeï Bresler (Jerusalem quartet), Simone Gramaglia (quartetto di Cremona), the Modigliani quartet and Alfred Brendel.

The quartet has been invited on several occasions to take part in masterclasses at the European Chamber Music Academy, where it has benefited from the advice of such string quartet masters as Johannes Meissl and Hatto Brendel. Johannes Meissl and Hatto Beyerle.

For four years, they were accompanied and supported by the Debussy Quartet, as part of the specialised string quartet cycle at the CRR de Lyon, and also during the Cordes en Ballade festival, to which they have been invited for several summers in a row.

At the same time, they studied with Luc Marie Aguera at the CRR in Paris.

Together they soon felt the need to open up their artistic practice and diversify their musical approach. Their interest in the cross-disciplinary nature of the arts and the multiple encounters , the quartet is looking for new ways to share with the public. They are working on an adaptation of Mourad Merzouki’s show « Boxe Boxe », a production involving almost 300 children dancing on stage. In 2019, they will be working with primary school classes in Lyon on a project entitled ‘Dr Jekill & Mr Haydn’, an operetta by Claude Henri Joubert, conducted by the quartet and involving more than 80 child choristers.

The quartet won the Tremplin Jeunes Quatuors competition organised by the Philharmonie de Paris in 2017, and also graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with a bachelor’s degree in chamber music, with honours.

In July 2019, the quartet was awarded 3rd prize at the Virtuoso & Belcanto competition in Lucca, Italy. The Bergen Quartet is supported by Le Dimore del Quartetto.

Today, all four of them are permanent musicians in the leading Parisian orchestras (Opéra National de Paris, Orchestre National d’Ile de France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France). The Bergen Quartet meets up more occasionally, but always with the same passion for but always with the same passion for the chamber music repertoire.

Jennifer Fichet

Pianist, chamber musician, teacher and accompanist Jennifer Fichet has nurtured her musical personality through a wide range of encounters and artistic experiences. Both on stage and when teaching, she is driven by the desire to pass on her vision of music with enthusiasm and integrity. Audiences and the press are unanimous in their praise for the finesse, sincerity and depth of her interpretations.

Jennifer first trained at the CRR in Lille, where she received top honours in piano (class of Marc Lys), accompaniment (Christophe Simonet), writing, analysis, chamber music, harpsichord and musical culture. After graduating with first-class honours in science, she decided to devote herself to music. She met Reiko Hozu and Jean Koerner, whose teaching and artistic personalities were essential to her development, and went on to win a prize in analysis at the Paris Conservatoire (Michael Levinas), followed by three advanced diplomas in piano (Gérard Frémy, Nicholas Angelich), chamber music and accompaniment. She then spent 2 years perfecting her skills with Rena Shereshevskaya, who helped her deepen her relationship with the instrument, and also received advice from Frédéric Aguessy, Théodore Paraskivesco, Evgueny Malinin, Evgueny Moguilevski, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Vladimir Krainev.

She is also an experienced and sought-after accompanist. A former accompanist at the Conservatoire du Centre and the Ecole Normale in Paris (classes with Pierre-Yves Artaud and Peggy Bouveret), as well as at the Concours International Long-Thibaud, Jennifer regularly accompanies major international academies and works with choirs (Ensemble Philippe Caillard, Radio France Choir) and orchestras (Orchestre Lamoureux, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Flûtes Français, Ensemble Fa, Itinéraire).

In 2017, Jennifer was hired as a piano coach on the set of Ludovic Bernard’s film Au bout des doigts, notably working with Jules Benchetrit and Kristin Scott Thomas. She also recorded the entire classical repertoire for the film. The soundtrack is forthcoming.

Jennifer Fichet has taught piano and accompaniment at the CRD in Issy-les-Moulineaux since 2009, and sight-reading at the CNSM in Paris since 2016.
Students from her class regularly go on to study at the Pôles Supérieurs, the CNSM and the Grandes Ecoles abroad.
