Biography
Born in 1993, Philippe Hattat studied piano and accompaniment at the Paris Conservatory, where he earned eight first prizes. A student of Jean-François Heisser, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, and Jean-Marc Luisada, among others, he developed an early artistic personality marked by curiosity, exacting standards, and stylistic openness.
Invited to numerous festivals in France and abroad—La Roque d’Anthéron, the Chopin Festival in Paris, Palazzetto Bru Zane, Musica da Casa Menotti (Spoleto), Sonograms (Sofia), Encuentros (Buenos Aires), and more—he performs as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles, and with orchestras. He regularly collaborates with artists such as Bertrand Chamayou, Théo Fouchenneret, the Hanson Quartet, and the Xenakis Trio, and participates in contemporary music projects with Ensemble Multilatérale and Les Apaches!. A composer and organist, trained by Michel Merlet and Pierre Pincemaille, among others, he is actively involved in contemporary music. He has participated in several world premieres (Olivier Greif, Philippe Manoury, Stéphane Delplace, Sasha J. Blondeau) and is also interested in lesser-known repertoires as well as ancient and non-European musical traditions. A prizewinner in several international competitions—Claude Bonneton (1st prize), Giorgio Cambissa, Orléans Competition (Ricardo Viñes Prize, Ginastera Prize, Chevillon Bonnaud Composition Prize)—he joined the Messiaen Trio in 2020, with whom he has performed at venues including Wigmore Hall, the Louvre Auditorium, and the Messiaen Festival in the Pays de la Meije. Since 2023, he has been a member of the ensemble Les Apaches!

His discography, widely acclaimed by critics (several Chocs de Classica awards and a Diapason d’Or), includes recordings dedicated to Olivier Greif, Patrick Loiseleur, Fabien Touchard, George Crumb, as well as Vitrail (2024) with the Messiaen Trio and the Xenakis Trio. A resident at the Singer-Polignac Foundation from 2017 to 2024, Philippe Hattat pursues an artistic career fueled by an intellectual curiosity that also leads him to the linguistics, a field in which he has published several works.
