Pantoum Trio

Hugo Meder (violin), Bo-Geun Park (cello) and Virgile Roche (piano) founded the Pantoum Trio in 2016, at the beginning of their studies at the CNSMD of Paris. Quickly developing an exceptional complicity on stage and off, these young and brilliant musicians were able to give substance to their common passion for chamber music, and begin the difficult search for the balance between perfect musical cohesion, and the enhancement of the artistic personality of each.

Under the direction of Emmanuelle Bertrand and Michaël Hentz, they then began an in-depth study of the chamber music repertoire for strings and piano, which they were fortunate enough to pursue in the prestigious class of the Trio Wanderer at the CRR de Paris between 2018 and 2020, and in that of Claire Désert and Ami Flammer at the CNSMDP since 2019.

Hugo, Bo-Geun and Virgile have also received advice from internationally renowned musicians such as Marc Coppey, Alexis Galpérine, Emmanuel Strosser or Olivier Charlier, and have had the chance to meet members of the Ebene and Modigliani quartets during master-classes at the CNSMDP, as well as to work with members of the Talich and Škampa quartets thanks to the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) program.

The trio was awarded a second prize at the Illzach International Chamber Music Competition and was scheduled to participate in the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in May (postponed to 2021).

In 2019, the Pantoum Trio performed at the Philharmonie de Paris (Grand Salle Pierre Boulez) as part of the Préludes aux concerts de l’Orchestre de Paris, as well as at the Festival international de piano de la Roque d’Anthéron as an ensemble in residence, and in Norway at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Festival.

In 2020, the trio performed in the Auditorium of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and was scheduled to perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for the first time with the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Nice in October.

Hugo Meder violin

Hugo Meder studied violin at the CRR of Strasbourg with Ana Reverdito Haas, before entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse of Paris in the class of Alexis Galpérine. During his studies, he worked for chamber music with Emmanuelle Bertrand, François Salque and Claire Désert, and participated in master-classes with Adam Laloum, Marina Chiche, Pierre Fouchenneret, and members of the Ebene and Modigliani Quartets.

Hugo is Laureate of the Royaumont Foundation in 2019 and participated in the 25th edition of the Brahms Competition. In February 2019, he performed as a soloist in Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole with the Orchestre symphonique Inter Universitaire de Paris. In May 2019, he obtained his DNSPM with honors and unanimous congratulations from the jury. During his first year of Master at the CNSM, he is preselected, with Virgile Roche, for the 16th Chamber Music Competition of Lyon.

During his studies, Hugo Meder founded the Pantoum Trio with Virgile Roche and Mélisande Ponsin. They joined the Trio Wanderer class at the CRR in Paris and participated in the International Chamber Music Competition in Illzach, where they won a second prize.

In August 2019, they perform at the 39th Festival de la Roque d’Anthéron, where they share the stage with Jean Marc Philips Varjabedian, Olivier Charlier, Lise Berthaud, Raphael Pidoux.

In September 2019, they are invited to the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition. Soon, they will participate in the 10th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition.

During the season, Hugo will perform in Dijon and Paris in Mendelssohn’s 2nd Concerto with the EOCL, then in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Pantoum Trio and the Orchestre wymphonique du CRR de Nice.

He plays a Gand et Bernardel violin from 1885.
