He previously trained at the conservatories of Poitiers, Bordeaux and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (94).
He regularly benefits from the teachings of the pianist and pedagogue Bernard d’ASCOLI. During masterclasses or chamber music sessions at the CNSMDP, he has also worked with artists such as Bruno RIGUTTO, Jean-François HEISSER, Jean Efflam BAVOUZET, Itamar GOLAN, Clive GREENSMITH or Michaël HENTZ.
Gaspard THOMAS has already won several awards in international competitions: he won the First Prize at the France-Amériques competition in 2019 and at the Brest competition in 2017 (Chopin Prize), and eight prizes including seven special prizes at the Piano Campus competition in Pontoise in 2019. The same year, he was selected for the Long-Thibaud-Crespin competition in Paris. He is also a laureate of the Royaumont Foundation (2018) and a scholarship holder of the Lions Club of Saint-Maur.
Gaspard THOMAS has performed as a soloist with orchestra or string quintet in Chopin’s Concertos Nos. 1 and 2, Saint-Saëns’ Concerto No. 1 and Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 1. He was a guest artist at the “Piano à portes ouvertes” day at the Bagatelle Chopin Festival in 2016 and at the Saint-Céré Festival where he has been present since 2017. Gaspard Thomas regularly performs in recital, and has been heard at the Steinway & Sons showroom in Paris as part of the “Pianissimes” OFF, at the Polish Embassy for the Chopin Society, and at the Théâtre de Fontainebleau during the Piano Campus 2020 festival. In the autumn of 2020, he will give a recital at the Château de Lourmarin and will be part of the Young Soloists of the “Lisztomanias” Academy in Châteauroux, directed by Bruno RIGUTTO.
Chamber musician and appreciated accompanist, Gaspard THOMAS accompanies several musician colleagues presenting international competitions (Long-Thibaud competition, ARD competition in Munich) and orchestra academies. During the summer of 2020, he will play a sonata with the violinist and composer Élise BERTRAND at the Gstaad Palace Hotel as part of the Sommets musicaux de Gstaad in Switzerland. Also open to creation, in 2019 he composed “Poème”, a piece for 96 pianists which was premiered during a concert at the Philharmonie de Paris.
